Utah’s supervision landscape
is changing. Are you ready?

Utah’s consolidated supervision rule (R156-60e) took effect January 1, 2026, and the amendment is now final — effective May 26, 2026. New documentation expectations, observation standards, supervisor qualifications, and a required AI use plan mean “figuring it out as you go” won’t cut it.

Every designated supervisor must meet the requirement by January 1, 2027. What started as a two-year runway is now closer to six months.

Our curriculum is mapped to the finalized R156-60e supervisor training requirements. Materials are updated as DOPL issues final rule guidance.

1

New Documentation Standards

DOPL is formalizing what supervision documentation must include, how long it must be retained, and what an audit looks like.

2

Observation Requirements

Direct observation of supervisee clinical work is becoming a mandate, not a suggestion. Do you have a system for this?

3

Division-Approved Supervisor Status

Under R156-60e, anyone supervising associate-level licensees must now obtain Division-approved clinical supervisor status. Prior experience alone no longer qualifies — formal recognition is part of the pathway.

4

Ongoing CE Requirements

Supervisor-specific continuing education every renewal cycle creates a new ongoing obligation. Start building that foundation now.

5

A Required AI Use Plan

Under R156-60e-307.1(2)(c)(iii), every supervision contract must now include a detailed AI use plan covering four domains: supervision, administration, note & report writing, and best practices. Most existing trainings don’t cover this — we built our system around it.

You leave with a complete
supervision system, ready to implement.

Most supervision trainings hand you theory and a certificate. We hand you templates, workflows, AI-supported tools, and a fully assembled system customized to your practice.

Real Operational Experience

Built from actually running a large multi-clinician group practice — the staffing, documentation, burnout, and workflow challenges textbook trainings never touch.

Respect for Your Expertise

If you’ve supervised for years, we won’t lecture you on empathy. Track B is modernization for experienced clinicians, not re-education.

AI-Supported Systems

Ethical, practical AI tools that reduce administrative burden while improving consistency. Not AI that replaces your judgment — AI that gives you your time back.

Frequently asked

We believe high-quality supervision training can be practical, efficient, and rigorous without unnecessary time burden. Our curriculum is implementation-centered — you leave with systems, templates, and tools you can use immediately. The ongoing 6-hour supervisor CE requirement supports longitudinal learning rather than relying on one front-loaded experience. We also know that most training time is unpaid for clinicians, and we built this program to respect that reality.

Track A is for clinicians entering a supervisory role for the first time. Track B is for experienced supervisors who need DOPL alignment, updated systems, and modern tools. If you’ve been supervising for years, Track B is your fit.

Here’s the timing that matters: for the training to count toward Division-approved supervisor status, you need to have held full (not associate) licensure for at least 24 months when you complete it. So the move is to take it once you’ve reached that 24-month mark — at that point you complete the training and you’re set to submit your DOPL application as soon as you have a supervisee lined up. Taking it earlier won’t satisfy the requirement, so there’s no advantage to rushing it.

Both Track A and Track B provide 8 continuing education units (CEUs) for Utah providers. Each participant receives an individual CE certificate — with the sign-in record, instructor credentials, and required certificate details DOPL looks for. These are supervisor-specific hours, and they count toward your 40-hour renewal CE for the cycle. (Utah doesn’t pre-approve CE providers; credit rests on the documentation, which we handle for you.)

A local training program stipend may reimburse a significant portion of training costs for qualifying clinicians. Eligibility depends on your employment situation. We provide full details and help you determine eligibility during enrollment.

Our 8-hour synchronous curriculum is mapped to the five required content areas under R156-60e-306.1 and is built around the Division-approved supervisor training pathway that took effect January 1, 2026. The amendment refining R156-60e is now final, effective May 26, 2026, and our curriculum reflects it. We keep materials current as DOPL issues further guidance. Our modular curriculum design means regulatory updates don’t require rebuilding the entire course.

Not at all. These are guided systems for things like agenda generation, documentation formatting, and competency tracking. If you can use email, you can use these tools. They reduce your administrative burden — they don’t replace your clinical judgment.

It’s fully synchronous — delivered live, not self-paced — because Utah requires supervisor training to be completed in real time. The rule defines synchronous as real-time, virtual or in person, so it can be offered either way. It’s a single 8-hour training delivered as a one-day intensive or split across two shorter days, consecutive or not — not spread out over weeks. Register or join the interest list to be the first to know when dates are set.

Absolutely. We offer a 10% group discount for 10 or more registrations from the same organization, and on-site delivery is available so your team can train together at your facility. We handle custom scheduling, invoice billing, and individual CE certificates for every participant. Groups also benefit most from the local training program stipend — contact us for a group quote.
