You did the reading. Here's the piece almost everyone misses.

The Situation

You read R156-60e. You probably read it more than once — first when DOPL released the original draft in late 2024, then again when the amendment came through this spring.

Your quiz answers tell the same story. You marked the rule as crystal clear or mostly clear. You got at least two of the three rule-content questions right. You said your documentation is tight, or close to it.

That puts you in a different room than most of the people taking this quiz.

The Rule is Now Finalized

As of May 26, 2026, R156-60e is no longer moving. The amendment is final, the framework is locked, and it's now time to act on it.

What you understand is mostly accurate. The rule is 8 hours, it has to be synchronous, the deadline is January 1, 2027. There is one piece that catches almost every competent supervisor off guard the first time they read it carefully, and it is the piece your quiz answers suggest is most likely the gap in your current plan.

What You Don't Yet Know

You do not need a tour of R156-60e. You need a careful read on the three places where supervisors who are otherwise prepared still tend to find a gap.

✓ The AI Use Plan is brand new and most trainings don't cover it with depth

R156-60e-307.1(2)(c)(iii) requires that every clinical supervision contract include a detailed plan of how AI will be managed in practice — across four named domains: supervision, administration, note and report writing, and best practices. This is the requirement most existing Utah supervisor trainings either skip or mention in a single bullet point.

✓ The synchronous requirement is stricter than most supervisors initially read it

The rule treats the 8 hours as a single unified course. You cannot satisfy the requirement by stacking a 2-hour webinar from one provider with a 6-hour self-study from another. The 8 hours have to be delivered as a coherent course by a single training organization.

✓ The supervision contract elements changed under R156-60e-307.1

Most existing contract language predates the change. R156-60e-307.1 lists the required elements of a supervision contract under the amended rule. Some elements carried over from previous practice. Some are new. If you have not opened your supervision contract template since the amendment finalized, it is worth a side-by-side read.

Your Path Forward

You are most of the way there. Three options, depending on where you are and what you want to close.

You don't figure this out alone.

After training, you get detailed implementation guides, access to a community of trained supervisors, and regular trainer presence for guidance and support.
